In a ground-breaking move towards environmental sustainability, MITCON Nature-Based Solutions Ltd. has achieved a remarkable milestone with the world’s first mahogany-based agroforestry afforestation and reforestation plantation project registered under the Verra Registry a standard global verified carbon standard organization with a grouped project ID 2479 for Carbon Credit Facilitation in the states of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Telangana and Gujarat.
This is managed by Mahogani Vishwa Agro Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of MNBS and marks a significant leap towards mitigating carbon emissions on a global scale. The Verra Registry, a prestigious platform for carbon credit validation, has officially recognized and approved this project. This recognition positions MITCON at the forefront of climate change solutions, setting a precedent for responsible agroforestry practices that contribute to both environmental conservation and sustainable agriculture.
It is implemented in collaboration with thousands of local farmers and involves the strategic planting of mahogany trees across 6,000 acres of agricultural land. This not only fosters biodiversity but also acts as a carbon sink, absorbing substantial amounts of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. The positive impact on local ecosystems and communities is immeasurable, aligning with MITCON’s commitment to Sustainable Development Goals.
